How do you think Frankfurt School thoughts can be applied to today in our own culture?

The Frankfurt School thoughts can be applied to today in our own culture at home and at school which are the main places where people grow up and acquire their identities and how they will behave in society. On one hand, at home, parents should taught children when they ask for something to give them arguments on why they want to get those things and what will be the advantages. On the other hand at school, is to teach students and show them that not only exist a vertical education where only teachers have the information or the knowledge but also a horizontal education where students are in the same capacities to create knowledge cooperatively through projects, creative ideas, debates and other tools that encourage critical thinking.

Outline of My Argumentative Essay

Thesis: Using ICTs in the field of English Language Teaching improve the students’ reading and writing skills.

Supporting Arguments:

·       Electronic Books

·       Interactive Multimedia (Digital Stories)

·       Educational Platforms

Opposing Arguments:

·       Difficulties to control the students because they might be distracted to see other websites.

·       Insufficient time for instruction when ICTs is used

·       Use of the ‘SMS Language’.

Conclusion: The use of ICTs in English Language Teaching has many advantages and disadvantages. Nowadays, teachers should use this technological tool because it is a reality that most of teenagers are in contact everyday with technology, and teachers could take advantage of it. The problem is not using ICTs, the real problem is how you use appropriately to engage students and keeping them learning at the same time.
